This is the pouch I make on repeat: for sunscreen, makeup, chargers, sewing notions, you name it. It started as sunscreen pouches for my own beach bag, sewn from leftover Turkish-towel scraps, and then you all ordered so many of them that I turned my method into a proper pattern.
It's fully lined, the zipper install is genuinely beginner-friendly, and my little zipper-tab trick means the end of your zipper always looks finished, never chewed up. If you can sew a straight-ish line, you can make this.
What you'll need
- Two exterior pieces, 10" × 14": quilting cotton, canvas, or a sturdy woven (Turkish-towel scraps are wonderful)
- Two lining pieces, 10" × 14": duck cloth or calico gives it nice structure
- Two pieces of fusible fleece, 10" × 14"
- A zipper at least 14" long (I use zipper by the yard, see the strip below)
- Matching thread, clips or pins, and a zipper foot (helps, but isn't necessary)

The pattern comes as an illustrated booklet plus full-size pattern pieces (US Letter and A4, print at 100%), or skip the printing and cut straight on your fabric with the cutting chart. And it works at any size: keep your lining and fleece matched to your exterior and the method never changes.
