This wreath is one of my favorite spring makes, and it comes together faster than you'd think. Sola wood flowers soak up dye beautifully, so you can mix your own palette to match your porch, your mood, or the season: I went soft and coastal with sage, mauve, powder pink, and a little blue.
I filmed the whole thing start to finish, so hit play on the tutorial above to watch me dye, dry, and glue everything onto the grapevine base.
What you'll need
- A grapevine wreath base
- Sola wood flowers (a mix of shapes and sizes)
- Sola wood flower dye in the colors you love
- A few small bowls for dyeing, plus a spoon
- A hot glue gun and glue sticks
- A little dried eucalyptus for filler
- Ribbon to hang
Dye your flowers
The magic is in the dye: sola wood flowers drink it right up, so you can custom-mix any palette you want. Mix your colors in small bowls, dip or brush the flowers, and set them out to dry.
Build your crescent
Once everything's dry, start hot-gluing flowers onto the base. I like to cluster them in a crescent down one side, mixing sizes and colors as I go and tucking bits of eucalyptus in between for a little movement.
Hang it up
That's it: a spring wreath in your own colors, and the whole thing costs a fraction of a store-bought one.
