A bathtub tray is one of those small builds that punches way above its weight: it makes an ordinary bath feel like a spa, and it's a great confidence-builder if you're just getting comfortable with tools. The build is simple: cut your board to span your tub, shape and sand the edges smooth, then stain and seal it so it can stand up to steam and the occasional splash.
